CID Gallantry Awards is a stellar initiative to showcase and honor extra-ordinary examples of bravery showcased by ordinary people across India. The initiative encourages people to share their acts of courage and strength; thus emerging as symbols of inspiration amongst fellow Indians. The award aims to felicitate inspiring achievers, provide a platform for local heroes to interact at a national level and encourage the new generation to inculcate courage and aim higher in life.
The CID Gallantry Awards is divided into two categories – Physical Bravery (display of bravery in saving life or property of oneself or someone else) and Social Bravery (display of bravery in combating social evils like drug abuse, dowry, child labor, illiteracy, and environmental pollution) saw thousands of entries from all over the nation. These were shortlisted, authenticated and finally, the title was bestowed to two brave winners each in the category of ‘Below 15 years’ and ‘Above 15 years’.
The jury consisted of Air Marshal Padma Bandhopadhyay (retired director general medical services, Indian Air Force), Sabrina Lall (sister of late model Jessica Lall), Farooq Sheikh (actor and theatre artist) and Aaj Tak editor (crime) Shams Tahir Khan, who personally interviewed each shortlisted candidates before they arrived at the final results.
Commenting on the second season of CID Gallantry Awards, Mr. N.P Singh, COO MSM, adds “The overwhelming response to the second season of the awards just show how popular is CID among the Indian audience. CID Gallantry Awards encapsulates the essence of India and serves as a mirror to society.”
